Parent Orientation 2021

On behalf of the Hudnall Elementary School Faculty and staff, I would like to welcome you and thank you for allowing us to be a part of your child’s educational journey. We look forward to seeing you and working collaboratively with you this school year.

 

COMMUNICATION
At Hudnall, we use a variety of methods to communicate with parents.
    • Email: All parents MUST have an email on file. All school information will be sent home electronically.
    • School Website: All school district updates and documents can be found at hudnall.inglewoodusd.com.
    • School Messenger is an automatic calling system that is used for updates and emergencies.
    • CLASSTAG is a texting and emailing system that is used for everything: updates, events, surveys, and emergencies. Please accept the invitation to join the app. The invitation will be sent to the email on file. The “Dr. Goolsby, Principal” group will be deactivated after the transition of the new administration.

ALTERNATIVE INCOME FORM
ALL families must complete LCFF form. The information from this form is used by the district to apply for state and federal funding. This includes funding for the food program, technology, educational materials, personnel, and facilities. The application can be found at online at Alternative Income Form.
 
SCHOOL INITIATIVES COMMITMENT FORMS
At Hudnall Elementary School, we ask our parents and students to commit to working with us as a team to achieve academic success. The following forms need to be completed before the first day of school.

•  Digital Learning Pledge
 
PREPARING FOR THE FIRST DAY SCHOOL
 
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
School begins on Monday, August 23, 2021. School will be in-person for all grade levels. Class schedules will be sent to the email on file. Things to remember:
      • School begins at 8:15am.
      •  School dismisses at 2:00pm for TK-3rd grade and 2:20pm for 4th-6th grade.
      • All students will be required to wear a mask daily.
      • Temperature checks will be conducted at the gate before entering the campus.
      • Bring the following items:
        • District issued Chromebook and/or IPAD
        • Return all textbooks from the 2020-2021 school year.
        • Bring a pair of headphones
 
INDEPENDENT STUDY ACADEMY
If you do not want your child to return in person. There is an Independent Study option. Please complete this form Independent Study. By clicking “yes” on this form, you are enrolling your child into the Independent Study Academy, please note this is a different Inglewood Unified School District site.
 
SPACE TO LEARN
Please select a designated place in the home, where your child can complete homework or participate in virtual learning if necessary. It is important that each child has a place to work every day. This space can be a desk, small table, corner in a room.
 
UNIFORM AND DRESS CODE
ALL STUDENTS MUST BE IN UNIFORM MONDAY-THURSDAY. School uniforms are available for purchase at Cambridge Uniforms on 220 S. Market St. in Inglewood. Due to the continued success of Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS), free dress days will be on Fridays.
 
DEVICE DISTRIBUTION
Devices for new students will be available for pick up by appointment only. Contact the Main office at (310) 680-5420 for assistance.

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
Parent involvement is an important factor in the success of a school. PTA Membership for the year is $10. We need parent support to assist with fundraising for school needs and student programs. The Hudnall PTA has primary sponsor of the Buzz Store. They were also responsible for sponsoring PBIS events, and purchasing much needed supplies/equipment. Please consider lending your time and talents to the Hudnall PTA.
 
After School Programs
The After School Education and Safety Program will offer live online activities for First through Sixth grade students. Visit the ASES website at ases.inglewooodusd.com and complete the application.
 
Extracurricular Activities
All extracurricular activities will be online. Update of activities will be sent to the email on file and CLASSTAG.
